Indian Army Repels Drone and Munition Attacks Along Western Border
The attacks came shortly after India launched Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, striking nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

New Delhi: The Indian Army on Friday confirmed that a series of drone and munition attacks launched by Pakistan along the western border during the night of May 8-9 were successfully thwarted, with a strong retaliatory response given to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The cross-border provocation by Pakistani forces came just two days after India conducted precise missile strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was carried out in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.
In a statement posted on X early Friday morning, the Army said Pakistani troops had carried out multiple drone strikes and fired munitions across several locations along the western frontier. These attacks, along with numerous ceasefire violations across the LoC, were “effectively repulsed,” the Army said, sharing a short video clip that reinforced its commitment to safeguarding India’s sovereignty.
“All nefarious designs will be responded with force,” the Army asserted, adding that it remains fully committed to defending the country’s territorial integrity.
The Ministry of Defence, in a late-night statement on Thursday, said that military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were among the targets. It confirmed that drones and missiles of Pakistani origin were used in the attempted strikes.
“Threats were swiftly neutralised using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods as per established SOPs. There were no casualties or damage to assets,” the ministry said. It further added that India continues to stay on high alert and is fully prepared to counter any attempts to undermine its national security.
